PR11002 Call for papers: fib symposium, Stockholm, June 2012 Abstracts are now being accepted for the 2012 fib symposium, which will take place from 11-14 June 2012 in Stockholm, Sweden. The symposiumÕs theme, ÒConcrete structures for a sustainable communityÓ, is highly relevant to todayÕs global concerns. Concrete can play an important role in sustainability on two levels: first, it is the most frequently used man-made construction material, and second, concrete structures have the potential to achieve a very long life span. Building concrete structures with minimal environmental footprints is essential, but it is even more important to use and develop concreteÕs many beneficial properties in order to realize its full potential during service life. Papers are therefore invited on concrete and sustainability in a broad sense: sustainable concrete production, and sustainable concrete structures. The full list of topics is available on the symposium website: www.fibstockholm2012.se. The organizer of the event, the Swedish Concrete Association, has selected Stockholm and the Royal Institute of Technology as the host city and venue. Stockholm is situated between Lake MŠlaren and the Baltic Sea, and the city is particularly beautiful in June when the sun is in the sky for as many as 18 hours a day and the trees are light green. Abstracts relating to these topics can be submitted by 1st July 2011; for more information, visit www.fibstockholm2012.se. ###
