Short Courses are given by fib experts on selected topics. They may be held in conjunction with fib Congresses or Symposia, or as stand-alone events.

Conferences supported by the fib are fib-sponsored or co-sponsored events on special subjects related to the fib's fields of interest. The fib is normally represented on the organising and/or scientific committees and lends general support through advertising and participation in the programme. Organised by Members or Member Groups of the fib, these events may be co-sponsored by other international associations and meetings of single Task Groups or Commissions of the fib may be held at this occasion.

If you wish to apply for support for an event you are organising, please contact the fib Secretariat. Please bear in mind that the event in question must comply with certain requirements, including:

  • The event must be supported by the Head of Delegation of the country in which it will take place.
  • The organising institution must be an fib Corporate Member.

The fib Congress is the fib’s largest event, featuring an extended programme of technical sessions, the awarding of the Freyssinet Medal, national reports, and the fib Awards for Outstanding Concrete Structures.

Organised in non-Congress years, fib symposia offer a rich platform for presenting and discussing developments in structural concrete with a technical focus comparable to that of a Congress but on a slightly smaller scale.

fib PhD symposia provide a platform for doctoral students to present their research, receive feedback from experts, and network with peers and seasoned professionals.

Designed for young professionals, the fib Symposium on Conceptual Design focuses on the early stages of structural concrete projects, promoting innovative approaches and interdisciplinary collaboration in conceptual design.

The fib International Conference on Concrete Sustainability aims to bring together engineers, researchers, academics, producers, investors, and developers to exchange and discuss their innovative approaches and ideas focused on sustainable concrete structures and their contribution to sustainable development goals.

The fib Capacity Assessment of Corroded Reinforced Concrete Structures conference addresses a crucial aspect in the life of all constructions: the study of corrosion phenomena and their impact on the lifespan of the structures themselves to enable their restoration and preserve their functionality.
