| Abstract: |
This revised edition of the state-of-art report published first in former Bulletins 206/207 has been written by a Task Group of eminent authors from western Europe, Canada, the USA and Japan with the specific aim of compiling and comparing published research on the behaviour of fastening systems; proposing a consistent approach to the design of fastenings based on current empirical and theoretical models; and developing design methods that account for the effects of fastenings to concrete and masonry structures for all types of load including monotonic, sustained, fatigue, seismic and impact loads as well as the influences of environmental effects. Based on experimental results from all parts of the world, the existing design approaches are compared with the available experimental data and a consistent design method is recommended.
