The European Union (EU) aims to become climate neutral by 2050. This goal is at the heart of the European Green Deal (European Commission 2019), in accordance with the EU's commitment to global climate action under the Paris Agreement. The ecological transition is not only an urgent challenge to respond to climate change but also an opportunity to reshape the economic and industrial system at all levels. All sectors of society and the economy will play a role, from the energy sector to industry, mobility, construction, agriculture and forestry.

This conference intends to address a topic of fundamental importance for the future of the building sector: how to evaluate and promote sustainability in our construction practices.
In the current context, sustainability has become a keyword in many sectors, including construction. The urgency of addressing environmental, social and economic challenges drives us to rethink the way we design, construct and manage buildings.

Sustainability in construction goes far beyond the simple choice of materials. It is a holistic approach that involves the entire construction chain, from the commissioning and design phase to the execution and long-term management of the buildings. It is necessary to consider all the actors involved, from the initial commissioning and design phases to the execution, management and maintenance of the buildings over time. Only by integrating the knowledge and skills of the entire construction chain can we achieve the goal of sustainable buildings that are in harmony with the environment, socially responsible and economically advantageous.

Sustainability measurement has become an indispensable tool for assessing the environmental and social impact of a building throughout its entire life cycle. Therefore, quantifying sustainability through appropriate indicators and methodologies becomes a crucial element for assessing buildings' environmental and social impact.
The conference will be attended by speakers from material manufacturing companies, universities and certification bodies, as well as professionals and experts in environmental impact assessment, to try to provide a complete picture of the best practices and innovative solutions available and to promote objective and measurable way sustainability in the sector.
