Join us for the next fib YMG webinar on 25 May 2022! This webinar will feature Micahel Scott, who will discuss the "Development of tsunami loading equations for bridge superstructures using OpenSees and PFEM".

Recent natural hazards have stressed the potential impact of tsunamis and riverine flows on the transportation infrastructure. A recent project sponsored by US state departments of transportation (Oregon, California, Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii) developed design specifications for bridges subjected to tsunami loading. Approximate loading equations based on numerical simulations played a key role in formulating these loading equations. This webinar gives an overview of tsunami loading equations developed from numerical simulations using the particle finite element method (PFEM) in OpenSees, as well as a brief overview of the fluid-structure interaction (FSI) modeling capabilities in OpenSees.

Registration is free, but places are limited.
