Abstract: Model Uncertainties - Reports from CEB Task Group 1.2

Prepared by individual members of TG 1.2 'Model Uncertainties and Interaction Problems', the papers were subsequently approved by Commission 1 'Safety and Performance Concepts', and endorsed by the 30th CEB Plenary Session in Berlin, September 1995. The introduction 'Model uncertainties in reliability formats for concrete structures' (Taerwe) gives an outline of the general approach on the consistent treatment of model uncertainties in reliability formats for concrete structures. The contribution 'An analysis of model uncertainties: ultimate limit state of buckling' (Pinglot, Duprat, Lorrain) investigates the model uncertainties of hinged columns and the influence of boundary conditions and proposes appropriate safety elements. The third paper 'Model uncertainties concerning design equations for the shear capacity of concrete members without shear reinforcement' (König, Fischer) compares suggested formula from various sources (CEB-FIP MC, EC 2) with test results covering concrete strengths from 20 to 111 MPa.

Concrete Barriers for Environmental Protection - Report from CEB Task Group 1.3

The report was drafted by the Task Group's convenor (Wörner) and subsequently discussed within the group. It will serve as a basis for formulation of safety concepts and design guidelines for concrete barriers with tightness requirements and is based on a questionnaire on national regulations and experiences. The report was endorsed by the 30th CEB Plenary Session in Berlin, September 1995.
